Location Scouting

In our trailer, for the scenes where our main protagonist is sitting in her bedroom on her laptop, we wanted to film in a room with plain white walls, a single bed and very few props. This inspiration came from looking at music videos and clips from psychological thriller films when making the live mood board. For example, the 'Royals' music video, 'Give Me Love' music video and 'Figure 8' music video.

One possible location for the bedroom scenes:

The reasons why we wanted a plain bedroom with plain white covers, no pictures and no decoration is because we wanted to make it evident to the audience that the main character is detached from all things normal. Furthermore, we found that it gives the impression of a mental institute, indicating to the audience that the focus of the trailer is on her mental state.

The design of room that we want to use for our trailer compares to the stereotypical 'teenage girl' bedroom, with pictures of friends/family on display, coloured walls and other decorations in the room. In our trailer we are going to film some footage in a teenage girl's bedroom which contrasts the the above room in order to show the contrast between the main character and other female actors that we will be using in our trailer.

Some examples of the type of bedroom for a teenage girl:

The Shower Scene

When researching Psychological Thriller film trailers, we found that a disequilibrium was sometimes shown through the unstable character having wet hair, for example, in 'The Roommate'. Therefore, in our trailer, we want to include a scene of our main character in the shower.

The reasons for possibly using this shower is because it is covered by glass, meaning that we can film easily and the shower space is quite big. However, we decided against using this shower as we felt that it was too modern for our piece as the style contrasts to the other locations that we have used in our trailer.
