Target Audience Research

I decided to do some research into what the prime target audience for our trailer would be.

I found that because we are doing a psychological thriller it may attract females slightly more than males because it will centre around psychological issues and emotions rather than actions.

Our psychological thriller however does hint at violence and action which would make it more appealing to the male audience.

I also found that there is usually a male lead character in psychological thrillers meaning that men can relate more making them more appealing to them, however we are choosing to subvert this stereotype and use a female main character so this could possibly aim it more toward women.

Our trailer would have to be aimed at people over the age of 15 as it hints at strong violence and is quite dark and sinister so would not be suitable for children under this age.

Also specific to our trailer the social Networking theme makes it more appealing to younger generations as these are the people that dominate social networking so our target audience range would probably extend to about 25 - 30.

Overall from this research we can see that our target audience is both males and females between the ages of 15 and about 25.
