Lighting Experiment

It’s important to do some tests before we start to film our trailer. Lighting is going to be really important in creating our ‘sinister’ mood, so I conducted a quick experiment with a ‘white light’ torch and white background. I varied the position of the light and took pictures to see which angle appears to create the best look for our trailer.

I like the way that the light looks really artificial in this picture, the exact look we are going for. Here, the torch was held directly above the camera, aiming at the centre of my face.

Although lighting from beneath is typically 'creepy', I think it seems too obvious and not interesting enough.

These aren't the best pictures in the world but they will contribute to how we decide to position our lighting when we film. I think we should position it to the side of or above our actress, aiming the light at her face.
