We were struggling to think of innovative ways of bringing together our themes of identity, deceit, and social media through our poster.
However, we have gained huge inspiration from 'The Social Network' film poster.
It shows that the film is concerned with a primary character, it shows a level of hidden identity by putting words in front of the face and it ties in the theme of the internet and social media through the Facebook-like side banner. This is exactly the themes that we want to come across in our poster as they typify our film and should therefore come across strongly in our promotional package. Additional information in this poster is shown by using very small pockets of text at the bottom of the poster. We may also take inspiration from this as to not detract attention from our character.
I found some other posters that have taken inspiration from 'The Social Network', making use of showing a character hidden by white text. It creates a sense of mystery which is vital in our poster due to our psychological thriller genre.
As a group we all feel that this type of poster could be hugely effective because our storyline largely ties in with themes in 'The Social Network'.
In order to create this type of poster, we need to do a number of things. We need to think about the type of still photographs we want to take of our actress, the lighting, the expression etc.. as well as the specific text we would lay over the top. If we do a poster like this, we will use dark, mysterious lighting in our photography.
Possible phrases that we could use are:
"It's not some perverted obsession"
"I'm not what you think I am"
"You can label me what you want"
"A psycho, a sociopath, a catfish"
We need to keep consistencies between our trailer and our poster, so using dialogue from our trailer in the poster will be very effective.
