Popularity of Women in Film

"Those of us in the industry that are still foolishly clinging to the idea that female film with women at the centre are niche experiences, they're not. People want to see them, and in fact, they earn money."

- Cate Blanchett Academy Awards acceptance speech for 'Blue Jasmine'

Over the course of the production of our film trailer, I had concerns over whether the female dominated cast, and the abnormality of having a female lead in a thriller, would limit our audience. However after watching Cate Blanchett at the Oscars, winning for a role in which she plays a female lead who much like our character shows vulnerability over her loss of grip on her sanity, I felt reassured for our decision to revolve our narrative around women, as films with women in titular roles are gradually increasing.
