Casting Decisions

Scarlett Larkspur

For the role of Scarlett we wanted someone plain, and unusual looking, but who was still striking all the while. I had previously worked with City in my drama class, and knew that she had the capability of playing someone mentally unstable, as she works with a level of maturity and professionalism. We did test shots with her to test out how she looked on camera, and in the type of lighting that we wanted. She doesn't fall under any stereotype at first glance, which is why she is perfect for playing our lead role.

For the roles of the 'bullies' as such we wanted girls who looked similar, as to represent a stereotype. We ended up going with Millie and Emily, two friends in real life as they would have natural chemistry, that we needed to be portrayed to show unity against Scarlett. We had them look well presented for filming so that they looked like average, pretty teenage girls who would find reason to victimise someone who is not of their social norm.

For the presence of the online identity that Scarlett takes up to seek her revenge, we wanted a typical teenage boy, who is generic in terms of the way teens look in todays society. We chose to use Louis as he fit the requirements well for our piece.
