Alternative Poster Research

Trainspotting

We liked the idea of text on our poster to feature teasers and hints of the content of the film, which goes along with the hints in a trailer. An alternative poster that I liked the use of text on was the film poster for Trainspotting (1996) that simply features dialogue from the movie.

The simplistic repetitive dialogue is relevant to the drama element of the film, and demonstrates the mature themes in the film. It represents the style of alternative film well, as it is an unusual poster. I like the reference to the film made with the opening speech. The poster is intriguing because it is so different. However our poster would be need to be aimed at a younger audience who maybe aren't as in tuned to mature themes of films like this, so therefore we would need a poster that is slightly more generic to coincide with the kind of audience we want to attract. This would include a photo almost certainly that would feature the actress as it almost immediately sells a film visually, however I do like the mystery that this poster has as it doesn't give too much away which is something to be considered when we create our poster.
