High Grossing Thrillers




The Dark Knight (2008) is the highest grossing thriller of all time, as it grossing over half a billion dollars ($553 million) Directed by Christopher Nolan, it's the sequel to Nolan's first film in the Batman trilogy, Batman Begins. The film stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/ The Batman and Heath Ledger as The Joker. The film had a budget of $185 million, and earnt $153 million in it's opening weekend.



The Silence of the Lambs (1991) is a thriller film directed by Jonathan Demme starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins. It is the first of the two Hannibal Lecter films, based on the novels by Thomas Harris. The film follows FBI agent Clarice Starling, seeking advice from an imprisoned Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a previous killer himself, on how to take down a serial killer known as 'Buffalo Bill'. The film had a budget of $19 million and has grossed a total of $131 million.



The Sixth Sense (1999) is a psychological thriller directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It stars Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment. The film tells the story of Cole Sear a troubled, isolated boy who is able to see and talk to the dead, and an equally troubled child psychologist who tries to help him. The film became critically acclaimed with many nominations at the academy awards. It's total gross was around $300 million.
