Our 'mood' and 'feel'

We decided on three words that sum up the mood that we’d like to portray in our trailer.

UNCOMFORTABLE
Sinister
SURREAL
We will create this feel through our use of mise-en-scene, sound, camera work and editing.
Our setting is in the home, somewhere where you should feel safe. Through this setting we can create situations that wouldn’t normally be that uncomfortable.
We aim to show our antagonist doing taboo, creepy things. Perhaps being in the bedrooms of her ‘victims’, talking to her webcam about what she’s doing, along with shots of dripping taps, acting purely as signifiers. The actual things being shown on-screen will contribute significantly to the mood and feel that we want to achieve.
The non-diegetic sound that we use will be basic, tangy undertones, perhaps including a simple melody. We may include some lyrics, but we may not. We will include heightened deigetic sound too, like the tapping sound of a keyboard. We hope that by doing this, the music subtly creates an uncomfortable atmosphere.
We want to use some interesting camera work, with particular interest in a high angle shot looking at our antagonist as she talks, to emulate a webcam-type view. This also gives the impression of surveillance, as CCTV cameras are often of a similar angle.
Our use of editing will follow the sinister feel. It will be slow at first, picking up pace as the trailer progresses. This creates suspense, and with somewhat disturbing images being shown on screen, should create an intimidating effect.
