In the 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' trailer, it begins with an equilibrium with non-diegetic and upbeat music. The general mood for the opening of the trailer is happy and there are shots of a couple in love, a new born baby and a comfortable family life. However, this state of equilibrium is soon interrupted by the ear piercing cry of a baby and the voice over of Kevin who then narrates the rest of the trailer. This monologue is taken from the actual film but used in the trailer in order to create suspense and the feeling of unease.

We can take inspiration from the structure of this trailer to a certain extent. This is because we aim to include a monologue from the main character of our film which we would also use in the actual film (if we were going to make the full movie). However, instead of introducing this narration half way into the trailer, we are going to open the trailer with her adjusting her webcam, sitting in front of the webcam and broadcasting the reasons why she is 'catfishing'. While she is narrating, we will use basic non-diegetic music but very quietly and then as the pace of the trailer increases and the voice over has finished, the volume of the music will increase in order to increase the suspense within the audience.
Furthermore, the 'We Need to Talk About Kevin' trailer uses the signifier of the colour red. For example, the red ball, the tomatoes at the very beginning of the trailer, the red paint on the front door and the reoccurring red coloured clothes that the cast wear. In our trailer, in order to signify danger to the audience, we also aim to use red as a signifier. This is because our main character in the trailer is a danger to the rest of the characters and we want this to come across to the audience in the trailer.
